On the occasion of President Xi Jinping's tenth anniversary of the "Belt and Road Portal" initiative, from September 27th to October 2nd, Peng Shou, an academician of the CAE Member, the chief scientist of CNBM, and the party secretary and president of the General Institute of Glass New Materials Research of CNBM, was invited to visit Europe. He successively went to France, Italy, and the United Kingdom to hold talks with many enterprises on comprehensively deepening cooperation and promoting high-quality development, and reached multiple consensus to implement the "the Belt and Road" initiative with practical actions
On September 28th, Peng Shou was invited to visit the headquarters and R&D center of Saint Gobain, France, and held talks with Yves Brechet, a member of the European Academy of Sciences, the French Academy of Sciences, and the global chief scientist of Saint Gobain. Peng Shou conveyed sincere greetings from Zhou Yuxian, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of CNBM Group, stating that this visit aims to further promote strategic cooperation between CNBM and Saint Gobain, implement the goals and plans of both sides in energy conservation and carbon reduction in the glass industry, fully utilize their respective proprietary advantages, deepen comprehensive cooperation, and promote common development. Yves Brechet expressed high expectations for cooperation with CNBM and is willing to actively cooperate in areas such as carbon capture, energy conservation, and consumption reduction, continuously contributing technological strength to achieve sustainable development goals and build a zero carbon industry.
At the R&D center, Hélène Lannibois-Drean, Executive Director of Saint Gobain R&D Center, introduced Saint Gobain's situation in R&D innovation, product solutions, talent team, zero carbon goals, and other aspects. Cecile Jousseaume, Director of the Glass Department at the R&D Center, introduced the development of Saint Gobain's glass business. Peng Shou appreciates Saint Gobain's achievements in research and development, as well as its research and exploration on carbon reduction. He is willing to further strengthen exchanges in the future to jointly promote global carbon reduction efforts. On September 29th, Peng Shou was invited to attend the Advisory Committee Meeting of the International Commission on Glass and the Glass Supplier Committee Meeting, and held talks and exchanges with multiple globally renowned glass enterprises, conducting in-depth discussions on the next steps in the global glass industry, international market expansion models, strategic cooperation, and mutual trust.
From September 30th to October 2nd, Peng Shou went to the UK to hold talks with GPC Group President Daniel Tain and Welink Group CEO Barry O'Neill respectively, to conduct practical communication on cooperation progress, project issues and challenges. Sun Jie, Vice President of CTIEC and General Manager of JETION, as well as relevant department heads, accompanied the visit.
